Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Correctional setting requiring 2 years of recent acute care and correctional experience along with an active IL license.

Details

• Correctional facility setting within Med/Surg unit
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00am-7:30pm
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Every other weekend required, 2 weekends per month
• Mandatory float facility; clinicians may float to any unit within scope or occasionally outside primary competency with team-based support
• May be required to float to other facilities within 50 miles of home facility with as little as 2 hours notice
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand upon submission, no pending licenses accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Correctional nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac
• Experience with nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and oxygen tanks
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and rapid response/code teams
• Computerized documentation skills required
• Two professional references required from supervisors within the past 2 years, with at least one from the most recent employer
• International candidates must have SSN/SSC finalized prior to submission; pending status not accepted
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a correctional health services environment
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Free, first-come first-served parking available
• RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, and none on weekends
• No holiday RTO permitted, including the day before or after a holiday
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility at a reduced rate
• Returning clinicians must complete full recredentialing and reattend orientation, even after breaks of less than 30 days
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
• Non-billable orientation modules average 4 hours and must be completed prior to start
