Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Correctional facility position requiring 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience and prior correctional experience.

Details

• Correctional facility setting
• Med/Surg unit
• 3x12 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends per month)
• No on-call requirements
• Cerner charting system used
• Mandatory float facility, must float within scope to meet facility needs across units, including outside primary competency with team-based support
• May be asked to float to another facility within 50 miles with as little as 2 hours notice

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand required (no pending licenses accepted)
• BLS certification required
• 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Correctional experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac
• Skilled in respiratory care including nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and oxygen tanks
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions
• Two professional references required from most recent employers, one from the most recent employer

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Provide direct patient care within a correctional health services environment
• Team-based care model utilized when floated outside primary competency
• RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO and no RTO the day before or after a holiday; calling out on a holiday may result in contract cancellation
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility at a reduced rate
• Returning resources must undergo full recredentialing and reattend orientation, even if the break in contract was less than 30 days
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
