Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Correctional Facility position requiring active IL RN license and prior correctional nursing experience.

Details

• Correctional facility setting within a health services unit
• 3x12 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
• Mandatory float facility; clinicians float within scope to meet facility needs across a variety of units, including outside primary competency areas with team-based support
• May be asked to float to other facilities within 50 miles with as little as 2 hours notice
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Care for Med/Surg patient population including respiratory, wound care, and cardiac monitoring needs

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand upon consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Prior correctional nursing experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and rapid response/code teams
• Two professional references from supervisors within the past 2 years required, from most recent employers
• Valid State ID or Driver's License (front and back) required
• Proof of COVID vaccination required (booster not required)
• International candidates must have SSN/SSC in hand prior to consideration (pending not accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a correctional healthcare setting
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free, first-come first-served parking available
• RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility at a reduced local rate
• Returning clinicians must undergo full recredentialing and orientation, even if the break in contract was less than 30 days
• Compliance items including lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting an assignment
• First-time travelers not considered for this position
