Job Position: Med Surg/Step Down RN
Location: 1500 N James St, Rome, NY 13440, United States
Duration: 13 weeks with high possibilities of extension
Shift: 19:00 to 07:30
Guaranteed hours : 48hrs (36hrs also available)
Locals also accepted Pay on w2: Hourly: $72
Min. W2 Weekly Gross (Taxable): $2,210.00
Weekly Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,246.00
Blended Weekly Gross Pay Rate: $3,456.00 Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Job Summary The Med-Surg RN provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit, assessing health status, administering medications and treatments, documenting care, and collaborating with the healthcare team to promote optimal patient outcomes. Med-Surg RNs care for a diverse patient population from post-surgical recovery to medical conditions requiring acute care while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments, monitor vital signs, recognize changes in clinical status, and report to the care team as needed.
- Care Planning & Implementation: Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans using the nursing process.
- Medication & Treatment Administration: Safely administer medications, IV fluids, treatments, and procedures as ordered, and monitor patient responses.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, outcomes, and changes in condition in the medical record.
- Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, discharge instructions, and self-care following hospital stay.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Safety & Infection Control: Adhere to safety protocols, infection prevention standards, and hospital policies to support a safe care environment.
- Diagnostic Support: Assist with diagnostic tests, interpret findings, and contribute information to guide treatment plans.
- Discharge Planning: Participate in discharge planning and help facilitate a smooth transition to home or another care setting.
Qualifications- MS/Telemetry nurse willing to float to step down.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and New York State (NYS) license required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Must have minimum 2 years of current experience.
- Travel experience preferred.
- Floating to MS is required.
- Every Other Weekend/Holiday is required.
- Must have strong IV skills, confident working with cardiac drips, reading EKG strips, and all types of wound care.
- NIH Stroke Cert required before start
