Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Med Surg/Tele)

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care while monitoring cardiac rhythms, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The RN promotes patient safety, maintains accurate documentation, and ensures high-quality care in accordance with established clinical standards and organizational policies.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Minimum of 1–2 years of recent Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience preferred.
Experience caring for post-operative, telemetry, and acute care patients preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or Compact RN License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred based on facility requirements.

Essential Functions:

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for Medical Surgical and Telemetry patients.
Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, recognize rhythm abnormalities, and notify providers of significant changes.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments safely and accurately.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor patient condition.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, discharge planning, and health maintenance.
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and changes in patient condition.
Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement standards.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Float to other units as assigned based on competency and patient care needs.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
