Position Summary:

The Med Tech will work under the direction of the Executive Director and AL Administrator to ensure that quality care is provided to all residents while functioning within the guidelines of regulation and community policy.  The Med Tech will also support a positive work culture that ensures that community residents are treated with respect and dignity and receive quality care (i.e bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing, etc.) according to individualized Plans of Care.  The Med Tech will also actively work to promote resident independence, healthy activity, and choice.

 High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

 Certified Caregiver or Med Tech certification preferred.

 Must possess at least one (1) year of experience in Residential Care for the Elderly.

 Must have a current Adult First Aid and CPR card upon hire and maintain current status throughout employment.

 Must be criminally cleared by DOJ and FBI via the Live-Scan process prior to employment.

 Must complete the community’s orientation and shadowing requirements prior to assisting residents with self-administration of medications. 

 Must be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks. 

Demonstrates freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis prior to employment and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities:

Supports the philosophy, mission, commitment, vision, and values of The Palazzo.

Assists other assisted living care staff.

Participates in assessment and reassessment of resident needs.

Oversees medication services.

Maintains a neat and orderly medication cart.

Maintains current and accurate resident charts.

Checks regularly for expired medications.

Assists residents with self-administration of medications.

Orders medications, as needed, per community policy and regulation.

Responds to medical emergencies.

Monitors and records physical, mental, and emotional changes observed in residents.

Maintains current and accurate resident charts.

Reports regularly to the Executive Director and Director of Community Care to provide status reports and engage in strategic planning.

Develops and maintains positive working relationships with physicians, nurses, and home health agencies.

As needed, the Med Tech will also perform caregiver duties.
