ANTICIPATED START DATE: AUGUST 2026
Perpich Arts High School is seeking a highly motivated long-term substitute Cinema Arts instructor for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a one-year position. The instructor will teach one Cinema Arts class each quarter (four total classes during the school year) from 12:15 PM – 3:30 PM and provide instruction in digital cinema,filmmaking, cinematography, sound, editing, and visual storytelling. The instructor will support students in developing technical and creative skills through narrative, documentary, and experimental filmmaking while evaluating student performance, entering grades in Infinite Campus, communicating with students and families,collaborating with faculty, and performing other duties as assigned in accordance with the Minnesota Code ofEthics for Teachers.
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Minnesota teaching license in Visual Arts (with focus in media), or ability to obtain Tier 2 licensure by August 1st.
Bachelor's Degree in Film, Media Arts, Cinema Production, or related field.
Experience teaching cinema arts or media arts at the high school level.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Positive interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or related advanced degree.
Background as working filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, or media artist.
Active creative practice with connections to the professional film/media arts community.
Experience with industry-standard productions and post-production software and equipment.
