Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and student-focused Media Center Instructional Assistant to join our school team. In this role, you will help manage daily media center/library operations and directly support students and teachers in accessing books, digital tools, and learning resources. The ideal candidate loves working with children, possesses strong tech troubleshooting skills, and thrives in a bustling, collaborative educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student & Instructional Support: Assist individuals and small groups of students with reading selection, research, and basic technology navigation.
- Circulation Management:Handle the check-in, check-out, shelving, and organizing of library books, media materials, and equipment.
- Environment & Programs: Help maintain an inviting, orderly, and inclusive environment. Assist the Media Specialist in preparing displays, book fairs, and special literacy events.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or youth in an educational, library, or childcare setting is highly valued.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, basic computer literacy, and the ability to learn library management software.
- Attributes: Patient, adaptable, highly organized, and passionate about fostering a love for reading and learning.
