Media & Communications Coordinator

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Pay rate: $27.41 per hour Part-Time (30 hours/week) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Media & Communications Coordinator to support the Marketing Communications Unit of the CVB. This role is ideal for a creative and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating with teams, vendors, and external partners to drive marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the marketing team and vendor partners to optimize website performance for campaigns
  • Utilize the Simpleview CMS platform to build and maintain microsites, landing pages, and content pages
  • Capture images and develop engaging copy for website and social media use
  • Coordinate and execute website and blog updates as requested
  • Manage content workflows, including requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring digital assets
  • Develop comprehensive reports on special projects, presenting performance data to leadership and City Council (e.g., FY26 marketing initiatives)
  • Serve as the primary contact for vendors supporting special projects and out-of-market activations
  • Act as the main point of contact for influencers visiting the area, assisting with scheduling, logistics, and VIP access
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with sister city Essex, including execution of related campaigns and materials

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with website content management systems (Simpleview preferred)
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual content creation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Canva is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Positive, upbeat attitude and team-oriented mindset
