Media Communications Manager

Location: Washington, DC
Full-Time
Salary: $150,000-$180,000 (commensurate with experience)

What You'll Do:
  • Developand lead the firm's media relations strategy, proactively securing placements in key legal, business, and national media outlets.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, managing crisis communications and sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, op-eds, talking points, and executive communications.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with journalists, editors, and industry influencers.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, leadership, and marketing teams to identify story opportunities and promote the firm's thought leadership.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide regular reporting and analytics.
  • Lead media training for spokespeople and prepare firm leaders for interviews and public speaking engagements.
  • Support strategic communications plans tied to firm announcements, practice growth, rankings, and events.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of media relations experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Deep understanding of legal media landscape (e.g., Law360, Bloomberg Law, The American Lawyer) and national outlets.
  • Proven track record of securing high-profile media placements and managing complex PR initiatives.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence, sound judgment, and professionalism when dealing with senior stakeholders and press.
