Job Tittle: Media Prep Lab Services Associate Technician
Pay Rate: $16.88 – 24.94/hr on W2
Work Model: 100% onsite, 5 days per week
Current Shift through end of 2026: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Starting in 2027: Monday–Friday, 12:30 PM–9:00 PM swing shift
Training: May last a couple of months; candidates need schedule flexibility and may be required to start earlier during training.
Interview: In-person panel interviewImportant: Must have cleared MVR. The role will require driving a company vehicle to pick up and deliver glassware around the campus.
Position Summary
Support the Media Prep and Lab Services department by working effectively within the group to meet department goals, objectives, and tasks to achieve desired results. Responsible for producing microbiological media, cell culture media, various solutions, buffers, clean glassware and prepared equipment for use throughout R&D groups. Have knowledge of basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel). Adhere to SOPs, cGMPs and other established procedures. Prioritize tasks and assignments to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare microbiological media, cell culture/tissue culture media, reagents, buffers, solutions, and custom media according to established procedures.
- Clean, sterilize, prepare, and distribute laboratory glassware and equipment throughout R&D facilities.
- Drive a company vehicle to pick up and deliver glassware and laboratory materials around campus.
- Maintain distribution satellite inventory at required levels using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices.
- Update labware deliveries in the request system daily and complete assigned support tasks within required timelines.
- Operate laboratory/process equipment, including autoclaves, glassware washers, ovens, tanks, and benchtop instruments.
- Follow SOPs, cGMP/GMP requirements, documentation practices, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor stock and inventory levels and provide regular updates to supervisors/leads regarding deliveries, inventory status, progress, and operational issues.
- Participate in 5S, continuous improvement, and process improvement initiatives.
- Prioritize daily assignments to maximize productivity and ensure required work is completed by the end of the shift.
- Serve as a liaison between internal customers and laboratory staff and communicate customer requests or operational issues promptly.
- Complete required training and documentation accurately and on time.
- Adjust to schedule changes, work overtime when necessary, and support other groups based on operational needs.
Required Qualifications- BS/BA in a life science discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong background in media preparation, glassware operations, laboratory support, or a related operational environment.
- Experience preparing media, buffers, reagents, solutions, or similar laboratory materials.
- Knowledge of SOPs, GMP/cGMP, laboratory documentation, and safety procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests and complete assignments within established timelines.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with autoclaves, sterilization equipment, washers, ovens, or similar equipment preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and clean/cleared MVR are mandatory due to company vehicle operation.
- Non-slip, steel-toe boots required by the start date; boot purchase will be reimbursed.
