Fleming County Schools is a rural school district situated on the cusp of the Appalachian foothills and the Knobs region of the state. The school district serves approximately 2380 students in six schools, 4 elementary, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. The four K-6 elementary schools serve the communities of Flemingsburg, Ewing, Hillsboro, and Wallingford, and feed into the middle and high schools located in Flemingsburg, which is also the location of the district office.
The districts enrolled demographics mirror that of the community. Fleming County Schools has 11 national board certified teachers. Of our highly qualified teachers, 53 hold a masters degree, and 29 hold a Rank 1 certification. As other school districts face teacher turnover, Fleming County Schools has an average tenure length of 12.7 years. The quality of instruction is improved by having a 16 to 1 student to teacher ratio during the 2013-2014. The PTA at each school is actively assisting schools in finding volunteers for classrooms to raising funds to help meet the learning needs of students.
Fleming County Schools has a long history of providing a quality-learning environment dating back to the 1800s led by highly qualified teachers. The school system is the center of the community that is supportive of the youth by offering extracurricular activities and attending the many after-school programs. Fleming County Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, genetic information, national or ethnic origin, political affiliation, age, or disabling condition in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
