Position: Media Specialist

Description

MIKEL is seeking a Media Specialist to support procurement, shipping/receiving of test materials and classified media to support Test and Evaluation events.

The Media Specialist will provide support for the System Engineering and Test teams at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport RI (NUWCDIVNPT) by maintaining inventory of, and checking in and out various classified and unclassified media (computer tapes, hard drives, printed material, or compact disks), from requests generated by emails, telephone and walk-in customer inquiries during laboratory operating hours, assisting in the categorization and inventory of duplicated media, inventorying, shipping and receiving various laboratory media, and assembling and packaging data collection kits for Naval submarine and surface ship use.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand/adhere to Media Center Operating Procedures.
  • Customer Service (issuing / receiving material from / to inventory.
  • Packaging and Shipping media.
  • Conduct laboratory opening procedures and end-of-day closing procedures / security checks.
  • Enforce security container access policies by checking badges prior to permitting entry.
  • Provide research/reference services for both unclassified and classified/controlled information using the Base Inventory Tracking System (BITs) tool and catalog.
  • Store, retrieve, and modify, data utilizing the BITs tool.
  • Generate and affix barcodes to Media for inventory scanning using NMCI Bar Code Scanner.
  • Document and report to the government customer on any technical software or hardware issues and provide recommendations for resolution or improvements.
  • Provide annual inventory services and support to maintain the collection and verify positive control over the media inventory.
  • Provide media destruction and transmittal generation services to customers and maintain all destruction records.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Submarine Combat Systems experience a plus.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance required; current clearance a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment is essential
  • Experience with the following DOD Databases and systems is preferred but not mandatory:
  • Base Inventory Tracking System (BITS)
  • Online Shipping Process (OSP)

Department of Defense Secret security clearance or higher is required at time of hire.
