Media Technician

Media Technician | $18/hour

Full Time | Tuesday & Saturday off

A North Sioux company is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Media Preparation Technician to join their team and serve as the backbone of their microbial testing operations.

Responsibilities:

• Weighing powdered medias and mixing to produce the enrichment medias used by the laboratory.
• Dispensing warm agar media into petri dishes
• Operating autoclave sterilizer units
• Verifying and operating robotic media dispenser arms
• Collecting aliquots of enrichment medias made for quality control testing
• Logging prepared media into LIMS software
• Completing log books of media prepared and other QC tracking
• Media inventory management

Requirements: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field is a plus.

• Experi0–Experience in a laboratory setting (food safety, clinical, or academic labs). We are willing to train the right candidate with a strong attention to detail!

• Comfortable with basic math (calculating ratios and dilutions), operating lab equipment, and using computers for data entry.

• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., media bags, carboys), and handle hot/heavy equipment safely.

• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a team-player mentality.
