Medical Billing Collections Specialist

Pay: $25-$26/hour

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 Months)

Schedule: Hybrid (Remote 4 days/week after initial training)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7AM-4PM

Are you an experienced medical billing professional with a strong background in insurance follow-up and claims resolution? Our client is seeking a Medical Billing Collections Specialist to join their revenue cycle team. This opportunity offers a flexible hybrid schedule and the potential for permanent employment based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned insurance payer accounts and follow up on outstanding claims

  • Investigate denied, underpaid, and rejected claims to determine root causes and next steps

  • Correct billing discrepancies and resubmit claims for payment

  • Prepare and submit appeals for denied claims

  • Monitor aging reports and work outstanding account balances

  • Maintain productivity and quality standards while ensuring timely claim resolution

  • Document account activity and updates accurately within billing systems

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve reimbursement issues and improve collections outcomes

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or insurance collections

  • Strong understanding of claim denial management and appeals processes

  • Experience working with Medicaid claims preferred

  • Knowledge of payer guidelines, reimbursement practices, and revenue cycle processes

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to meet productivity goals in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with medical billing systems and Microsoft Office applications

Position Details

  • Focus primarily on Medicaid-related accounts

  • Work approximately 80 transactions per day

  • Hybrid schedule: Remote four days per week and onsite every Wednesday

  • Contract position with the opportunity to convert to a permanent role within 6 months based on performance

  • Ongoing monthly performance reviews throughout the assignment

Pay Details: $25.00 to $26.00 per hour
