Job Title: Medical Assembler

Job Description

This role involves assembling and packaging medical components used in diabetic testing and needle products within a clean-room environment. You will rotate through several operations, including hand assembly, kit packaging, coil winding, and entry-level machine operation, with a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and consistency. The position is suitable for individuals with prior medical assembly experience who enjoy detailed, repetitive work and are comfortable working both seated and standing in a regulated production setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble diabetic testing kits by following detailed work orders and standard operating procedures.
  • Place 5 to 10 individual components into each kit, ensuring all required parts are present and correctly oriented.
  • Scan each kit to register the product identification number and ensure accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Place completed kits on racks for final packaging while maintaining a steady pace without compromising quality.
  • Perform hand assembly of diabetic needles at a workstation, working with small components ranging in size from a pen cap to a sewing needle.
  • Produce up to approximately 1,400 assembled parts per shift while maintaining high quality standards and consistency.
  • Learn and perform coil winding by handling very fine wires, using tweezers to place wires into machine clamps, and monitoring the machine as it winds coils.
  • Inspect coils using microscopes as needed to verify quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Operate entry-level assembly machines that put together diabetic needles, following all safety and operating procedures.
  • Monitor machines for jams or malfunctions, clear issues when appropriate, and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Collect finished products from machines, place them into bags, and apply correct labels according to work instructions.
  • Inspect assembled products and packaged kits for defects or quality issues, and remove nonconforming items from production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workstation in a clean-room regulated environment.
  • Follow all clean-room gowning procedures and quality protocols to ensure a safe and controlled production environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.

Essential Skills

  • Previous medical assembly experience of at least several months.
  • Experience working in a clean-room or similarly regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience with medical assembly, including handling small components and repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to perform packaging tasks, including assembling kits and labeling products accurately.
  • Experience with inspection activities, including visual inspection and use of microscopes for quality checks.
  • Familiarity with electronic or medical device assembly processes.
  • Capability to operate basic production or assembly machinery and monitor for jams or quality issues.
  • Ability to both sit and stand throughout the shift as required by different tasks.
  • Solid and consistent work history demonstrating reliability and commitment.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers and support staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality over quantity in all tasks.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a clean room environment with gowning procedures.
  • Experience in electronic assembly or similar fine, detailed assembly work.
  • Familiarity with microscope use for inspection in a production setting.
  • Comfort working around industrial machinery in a ventilated shop.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple workstations, including hand assembly, packaging, coil winding, and machine operation.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and cross-train in different assembly areas.

Why Work Here?

You will join a smaller organization where permanent and contract employees receive equal treatment and support, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. The role offers a clear path to permanent hire within approximately 5 to 6 months, providing stability and long-term growth potential. The company promotes a friendly and engaging workplace with events such as picnics, volunteering activities, and sports teams, encouraging connection and community among employees. This is a strong entry point into the assembly field, offering hands-on experience with medical products in a supportive environment focused on quality and development.

Work Environment

The role is based in a laid-back yet highly quality-conscious clean-room regulated environment. You will work in one of the most ventilated shops in the area, around industrial machinery and medical assembly equipment. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will stand for packaging operations and sit for hand assembly tasks, with anti-fatigue mats provided at standing stations. Clean-room gowning is required, but at a low level that still allows wearing makeup and jewelry, providing a balance between comfort and compliance. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and precision while maintaining a supportive and relaxed atmosphere.
