Under supervision of a clinical leader, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with clinic leaders, the Hospital Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients in multiple Cancer Center ambulatory group practices. This position supports the various cost centers within the Cancer Center, multiple campuses, and satellite offices. Job duties include a variety of patient focused tasks, with both clinical and administrative work to be performed. The team member will execute assigned patient care and laboratory procedures and administrative tasks in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. They are required to learn and be able to assist in all Cancer Center specialty practices.

Salary Information

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Required Qualifications :

  • Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or 2 years of equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Minimum 6 months of recent experience as Hospital Assistant or Medical Assistant and certification from an approved medical assistant program.

  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.

  • Strong computer skills with the ability to efficiently navigate, operate, and troubleshoot standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, web-based platforms, and other relevant tools)."

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal communication methods.

  • Able to meet physical requirements.

  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.

  • License/Certification :

  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with insurance verification, medical record data abstraction, and or patient financial services strongly preferred.

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, Russian) strongly preferred.

  • Experience working in Ambulatory medical setting
