Job Summary\n \nThis position offers the opportunity to work in the clinic and infusion areas within a thriving community cancer practice.\n \nUnder supervision of the Administrative Nurse, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Hospital Assistant III (Medical Assistant) assists in the delivery of care to patients in multiple Cancer Center ambulatory group practices. This position supports the Cancer Services and Ambulatory Services and Infusion Unit. Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. They will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. They are required to learn and be able to assist in all Cancer Center specialty practices. They are required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. This position requires the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and Holidays.\n \nThe final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.\n \nYour placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.\n \nThe salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate).\n \nTo learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/index.html\n \nRequired Qualifications\n\n This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.\n All candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:\n Certificate of training or graduation from an accredited MA, Home Health Aide, PCA, CNA, dental or paramedic program or college degree in a related field such as community health, infectious disease, public health or health education and 6 months of relevant experience\n OR\n 2 years of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant in a hospital or medical practice\n \n\n Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. \n Ability to communicate effectively, both directly and over the phone.\n Able to meet physical requirements.\n This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.\n \nPreferred Qualifications\n\n Prior experience in a healthcare setting working in an oncology practice \n Experience with insurance verification, medical record data abstraction, medical assisting, or patient financial services strongly preferred. \n Degree from accredited medical assisting school. \n Bi-lingual or multi-lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, Russian) strongly preferred.\n Current State of California Phlebotomy Certification (CPT1)\n\n
