Summary:

To actively participate in the on-site 6-month clinical medical assistant residency program to gain the necessary experience, skills and knowledge through classroom didactics, simulated learning and on the job training. Successful completion of this residency will prepare the graduate to function successfully as an entry level Medical Assistant. This comprehensive educational program incorporates adult-learning methodology to instruct and support the MA Resident with an interdisciplinary approach, assigned preceptor, training materials, competency checklists and job specific associated policies and procedures.

Memorial Healthcare System's Medical Assistant Academy is a paid, full-time training program designed to give you the strongest possible start to your Medical Assistant career-combining hands-on clinical experience, classroom learning, and mentorship within one of the nation's leading public healthcare systems.

What the Program Offers:

• A 6-month paid, full-time training program
• Foundational classroom learning and simulation-based training at our Memorial Training Center
• Supervised clinical practicums in Memorial physician offices beginning in month three
• Exposure to adult, pediatric, and specialty practices
• Eligibility to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam, paid for and administered by MHS
• Guaranteed placement upon successful completion in an MPG, MPC, or MCI physician office

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision and training of an assigned preceptor, performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including scanning, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration while demonstrates professionalism at all times.Under the supervision and training of an assigned preceptor. Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, including phlebotomy, splint application and procedural tray/room set-up.Under the supervision and training of an assigned preceptor, maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning/disinfection per protocol, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.Under the supervision and training of an assigned preceptor, learns and assists with performing patient assessments and treatments. Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs, height and weight, takes brief history on current illness or injury, current medications, allergies, required screenings, and other pertinent information as appropriate.
