Medical Assistant (MA) Apprentices are responsible for providing direct patient care and will practice up to the skills learned and approved to practice through the Apprenticeship program guidelines. MA Apprentices will apply current healthcare concepts and assist with routine or general clinical responsibilities that may contribute directly and indirectly to patient care under the supervision of the MA-C Coach. May work up to the documented level of academic and clinical competence accomplished in the individual's Apprenticeship program. The Apprentice is expected to complete 2,000 hours of clinical practice under the guidance of the MA-C Coach, coursework (unpaid), 3 skills labs (unpaid), and participate in all required apprenticeship activities. Successful completion of the Apprenticeship program and the national MA-C certification test, in conjunction with remaining an employee in good standing, will qualify Apprentices for entry into the regular job classification as an MA-C.
This is a full-time position working day shift Monday-Friday (with occasional weekends).
The intended start date for this role is 07/20/2026.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The professional in this position reports to the Clinic Care Director. The person in this position will work closely with other Samaritan professionals within various departments to include, but not limited to the Physician Offices, Lab, Pharmacy, Imaging, etc.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Experience:
Previous experience is not required
Skills/Competencies:
Ability to provide proof of 7 hours of HIV/AIDS training from WA State Department of Health- approved trained provider within 3 weeks of hire date.
Proficiency in the use of computer programs and equipment utilized in the clinic setting.
Basic math and effective reasoning skills for application in a clinical setting
Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate.
Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines.
Current (Healthcare Provider [HCP] level) CPR certification or ability to complete within two months of hire.
Ability to receive constructive feedback professionally and respectfully, and use it as an opportunity for professional growth and performance improvements
Maintains documentation for completion of Apprenticeship requirements and submits documentation in a timely manner
