For more than 50 years, NMHSI-a nonprofit community health center-has served communities across Northwest Michigan. We are currently seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our Benzonia Clinic team.

About the Role

As a Medical Assistant at NMHSI, you will be an important part of our patient-centered primary care team. This role supports providers and clinical staff in delivering high-quality, compassionate care in an ambulatory setting. Daily tasks include rooming patients, recording vital signs, assisting with procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, preparing exam rooms, and helping patients access the services and resources they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clinic staff-including providers, receptionists, and interpreters-to support smooth clinic operations

  • Conduct initial patient screenings and gather information for health assessments

  • Record vital signs, update medical histories, and assist with examinations and procedures

  • Administer immunizations and perform venipuncture under provider direction

  • Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and follow infection control/OSHA standards

  • Prepare, sterilize, and manage instruments and clinical supplies

  • Assist with medication refills, prescription assistance programs, and care coordination

  • Schedule diagnostic tests and obtain prior authorizations as needed

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support training/orientation of new staff
