River Ridge Dermatology is seeking a dependable, motivated Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This position works directly alongside our providers and other clinical staff to provide high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care to our patients.
The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment, and committed to providing an excellent patient experience. Previous medical office or clinical experience is preferred. Dermatology experience is a plus but is not required.
Responsibilities
Assist dermatologists with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures
Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for their visit
Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, medications, and other pertinent patient information
Scribe for the dermatologist and accurately document information in the electronic medical record
Assist with dermatologic and surgical procedures, including biopsies, excisions, skin tag removal, chemical peels, and other in-office procedures
Prepare patients, instruments, supplies, and examination rooms for procedures
Administer injections and medications as ordered by the dermatologist and permitted by applicable law and practice policy
Prepare and collect laboratory specimens for testing
Document examination findings and clinical information as directed by the provider
Clean, sanitize, stock, and prepare examination and procedure rooms between patients
Provide appropriate patient instructions before and after procedures
Follow up with patients regarding procedures, medications, laboratory results, and other clinical needs as directed by the provider
Assist with prescription and medication-related communications
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Follow infection-control, patient-safety, HIPAA, and practice policies
Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff
Perform other clinical and administrative duties as needed to support patient care
Qualifications
Previous medical or clinical experience preferred
Medical Assistant certification or training preferred but not required
Dermatology experience is a plus
Experience with electronic medical records and medical scribing is preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a busy clinical environment
Professional, dependable, and team-oriented
Comfortable assisting with minor surgical and dermatologic procedures
Commitment to providing a positive and respectful patient experience
