Mississippi Sports Medicine (formerly Orthopaedic Institute of North Mississippi) is searching for a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant who can handle working in a fast-paced clinic environment with a positive attitude, great teamwork, and a strong desire for efficiency. This position will provide high-quality care to patients seen within the clinic, under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant. (Experience to be considered in lieu of certification)

***This position is for our New Albany, MS location.***

Duties/Responsibilities*:                                                                  
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, takes detailed history of present illness (HPI), and confirms the reason for the visit
  • Prepare patients for examination and be present during examination/treatment to assist the physician in treatment procedures
  • Assist physician in performing procedures
  • Update electronic medical record with relevant and current information about their health condition and changes and progress in patients’ health
  • Schedule patient follow up appointments
  • Cleans and stocks exam rooms
  • Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.
  • Perform associated clerical tasks including scheduling, filing, returning phone calls, etc.
  • Maintain a safe clinical environment in accordance with all OSHA guidelines
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Thorough knowledge of Orthopedic terminology and anatomy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail oriented with above average organizational skills
  • Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LMXO) certification preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical assistant certification strongly preferred (equivalent experience will be considered)
   Physical Requirements:
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds or greater
  • Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
