Medical Assistant

Ohio Primary Care Clinic is currently searching for a full-time Medical Assistant to provide high-quality clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers while ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional customer service. The MA assists with patient care, documentation, procedures, and care coordination in a fast-paced primary care setting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Previous primary care or family practice experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Multilingual (Nepali, Somali) preferred but required
  • Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

Patient Care:

  • Welcome and room patients promptly.
  • Verify patient identity and reason for visit.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, BMI, pain assessment, medication reconciliation, allergies, medical, surgery, family and social history updates.
  • Prepare patients for examination and procedures
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
  • Administer injections and immunizations (within scope and certification)
  • Perform point-of-care testing including rapid COVID-19, Influenza, Strep, Urinalysis, Pregnancy tests and blood glucose
  • Collect specimens for laboratory testing
  • Perform EKGs
  • Assist with ear irrigation, wound care, suture removal, and dressing changes
  • Provide patient education as directed by the provider

Administrative Duties:

  • Answer phone calls professionally
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Check patients in and out
  • Verify insurance eligibility
  • Obtain prior authorizations when assigned
  • Process referrals to specialists
  • Scan and upload medical records
  • Manage incoming faxes and provider messages
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Clinical Support:

  • Prepare exam rooms before and after each patient
  • Clean and disinfect equipment according to infection control guidelines
  • Restock exam rooms and medical supplies
  • Monitor inventory and notify management when supplies are low
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC infection control standards

Care Coordination:

  • Follow up on laboratory and imaging orders
  • Assist patients with referrals and scheduling
  • Contact patients regarding provider instructions
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist with chronic disease management programs
