Medical Assistant

Full-Time - 1st Shift

BHCOR-Wound Care Center I Corbin, KY

The Wound Care Center specializes in the evaluation, treatment, and management of acute, chronic, and non-healing wounds. Using advanced wound care techniques and a multidisciplinary approach, the center provides comprehensive services designed to promote healing, prevent complications, and improve patients' quality of life. The team collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing professional patient care and efficient in-office patient flow. The Medical Assistant serves as a liaison between the patient and the physician and mid-levels. This position is critical to the physician and mid-levels so that they may devote their time directly to the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Medical Assistant performs waived laboratory tests, completes illness history and assists with other office functions as necessary. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.

Description:

  • Schedules appointments, procedures, referrals, and insurance authorizations while providing excellent customer service and telephone support.

  • Assists physicians by preparing patients, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, supporting exams and procedures, and maintaining efficient patient flow.

  • Provides patient education, communicates test results as directed, administers injections, and accurately documents patient information.

  • Maintains exam rooms, clinical supplies, instrument sterilization, and specimen handling to support daily office operations.

  • Cross-trains in clinic functions while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, infection prevention, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum two years of related experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Post-Hire Requirement: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association within 90 days.
