May be required to float to Primary care and other UF Health clinics.

 

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.

Responsibilities:
  • Room patients and prepare them for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, height, weight, and other required measurements.
  • Administer vaccines, and medications  
  • Complete patient pre-charting and ensure medical records are accurate and ready for provider visits.
  • Navigate and maintain records in Florida SHOTS, including reviewing and updating immunization information.
  • Complete School Entry Forms and other required patient documentation.
  • Assist providers with sports physicals and related patient evaluations.
  • Perform vision and hearing screenings according to established protocols.
  • Triage patient phone calls and electronic messages, routing concerns appropriately and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Answer incoming calls and provide exceptional customer service to patients and families.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments.
  • Support front office operations by assisting with patient check-in and check-out as needed.
  • Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and deliver high-quality patient care.
Qualifications:

Requirements 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
  • Must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 6 months of the date of hire or transfer into the position.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience preferred. 

Necessary Skills

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory health care or related health care fields.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to use computers.
