    Job Description

Join the clinic team of an independent rural healthcare organization that includes a Critical Access Hospital, Rural Health Clinic, and Long-Term Care services. You will work closely with providers and nursing staff, serve patients across the lifespan, and make a visible difference in the community.

As a Medical Assistant, you will prepare patients for visits, assist with examinations and procedures, support clinical documentation, and help keep daily clinic operations running smoothly under the supervision of an RN, LPN/LVN, physician, or other licensed independent practitioner. Current Medical Assistant certification, or completion within 12 months of hire, is required. Dahl Memorial will pay for certification for the right candidate.

    What You’ll Do

    • Prepare, room, and position patients for visits and procedures while providing respectful, age-appropriate care.
    • Assist providers and nursing staff with routine examinations, treatments, office procedures, and assigned technical tasks within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
    • After completing clinic-directed competency training, support immunizations, venipuncture, laboratory draws, and other assigned clinical tasks.
    • Accurately and promptly document patient care and assigned clinical activities in accordance with current standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Maintain clean, stocked, and safe exam and procedure rooms using appropriate infection-prevention practices.
    • Answer calls, schedule appointments, and promptly refer clinical questions or changes in a patient’s condition to licensed staff.
    • Remain calm during emergencies or physically distressing situations, follow established procedures, and promptly seek assistance from licensed clinical staff.
    • Work collaboratively with patients, families, providers, nursing staff, clinic leadership, and other team members to support safe, high-quality care.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program is required; previous healthcare experience is preferred.
    • Current Medical Assistant certification, or completion within 12 months of hire, is required. For the right candidate, the clinic will provide training and pay for certification.
    • Current Basic Life Support certification, or completion within 90 days of hire, is required.
    • Dependability, organization, flexibility, and comfort working with patients in a busy clinical environment.
    • Effective verbal and written communication, basic computer skills, and the ability to learn clinical documentation and scheduling systems.
    • A collaborative, patient-focused approach and a commitment to safety, confidentiality, professional conduct, and continuous learning.

    Physical & Work Requirements
