This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients and supporting providers in a fast-paced specialty clinic environment.Position SummaryThe Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to ENT providers and patients. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, obtaining and documenting vital signs and medical histories, assisting with procedures, maintaining examination rooms, coordinating patient care, and supporting the overall operations of the clinic.The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to provide professional and compassionate care to patients of all ages.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare patients for examination and treatment by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information.Room patients efficiently and ensure exam rooms are properly prepared.Assist ENT providers with examinations and office-based procedures within the scope of training and applicable regulations.Prepare and maintain instruments, supplies, and equipment used during patient care.Assist with procedures involving the ear, nose, and throat as directed by the provider.Perform or assist with basic clinical testing as appropriate, including hearing-related testing when trained and authorized.Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record.Obtain and document patient histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent clinical information.Assist with specimen collection and proper handling as directed.Clean and disinfect examination rooms and equipment according to infection prevention standards.Monitor and maintain adequate clinical supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be ordered.Assist providers with patient education and instructions.Answer patient questions within the scope of practice and direct clinical questions to the appropriate provider.Assist with scheduling, referrals, follow-up appointments, and other administrative tasks as needed.Communicate effectively with patients, providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable policies and regulations.Provide excellent customer service and contribute to a positive patient experience.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.Previous medical office or clinical experience preferred.Medical Assistant certification preferred.Current BLS certification required.Strong computer and electronic medical record skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.Professional, compassionate, and dependable approach to patient care.Why Join Gateway Regional Medical Center?Competitive payMedical, dental, and vision insurance View Guide401(k) retirement plan with employer matchPaid time offMental health/sick timeIllinois Paid LeaveFloating holiday after completion of the 90-day probationary periodCollaborative healthcare environmentOpportunity to make a meaningful impact in the communityGateway Regional Medical Center is an equal opportunity employer.
