Our Client, a Healthcare company, is looking for a Medical Assistant I, Occupational Health for their Napa, CA location.
Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care to include preparation of patient for examination including vital signs and collection of clinical data.
Follows Infection Control guidelines and standards.
Assists provider with treatments and/or minor procedures per direction of provider, including preparation of patient and treatment room.
Documents all aspects of the patient encounter including but not limited to vital signs, medications, and patient education.
Anticipates need for appropriate Health Education material.
Ensures work station, examination/ treatment rooms and equipment are clean and stocked with appropriate supplies.
Assists provider in tracking abnormal test results and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Assembles and prepares chart information prior to patient’s scheduled visit.
Manages phone calls and takes appropriate messages. Directs phone call and/or message to appropriate provider, supervisory personnel, or other department staff.
Performs assigned clerical duties including but not limited to faxing, filing, copying, and chart preparation.
Ensures timely management of department billing and charge processes.
Communicates and collaborates with other departments to provide continuity of care across departments and disciplines.
Actively participates in committees, in-services, staff meetings, Performance Improvement (PI) activities, and standards development.
Presents a professional demeanor in appearance and attitude.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Basic knowledge of Occupational Health to include but not limited to: worker’s compensation, employer protocols, physical requirements.
Ability to assist provider for basic care injury as directed.
Ability to utilize SYSTOC for appointments and provider schedules and company protocols.
Knowledge of how to complete physical examination paper work per company protocol.
Demonstrated effective time management and problem-solving skills. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Young Adult, Adult, and Geriatric. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Knowledge of office equipment and basic computer skills desirable. Knowledge of SYSTOC desirable.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with certificate required.
Licensure:
Current AHA or equivalent BLS certification required. Recommended and preferred to obtain Urine Drug Screen certification and Breath Alcohol Testing certification within one year of hire.
Experience:
One year’s experience in ambulatory care setting preferred. Knowledge of worker’s compensation preferred.
