Pay Rate: $20 per hour - $22 per hour
Schedule Notes: Days 9-5

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs, organize patient flow, and assist patients with mobility and dressing.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions to patients and families, and provide pertinent information over calls.
  • Handle clerical tasks such as managing medical records, obtaining lab reports, and completing forms.
  • Enter orders into the EMR system and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
  • Inventory and restock medical supplies as needed.
  • Set up examination rooms and instruments following sterilization protocols.
  • Maintain logs for medication refrigeration, sterilization processes, and other required systems.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of them per policy.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining medical charts and scheduling surgeries or procedures as needed.
  • Perform proficient phlebotomy duties.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, patient registration, and update demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify and update insurance information and perform pre-certification for procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
  • BLS certification required (AHA).

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
  • Adaptability to a growing and changing environment.
