Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly motivated Medical Assistant who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active medical practice. This position requires an individual who can remain active throughout the workday, move efficiently between patient rooms and clinical areas, assist patients as needed, and manage both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent patient care, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to meet the physical and operational demands of the position.
Primary Job Functions:- Welcome all patients, family members, and visitors to the practice in a pleasant and courteous way via phone or in person.
- Manage the triage process, which includes rooming patients, taking vitals and detailed patient histories, relaying information to the doctor, and recording into the EHR system.
- Perform chart prep, which includes obtaining outside records and/or diagnostic reports & corresponding with patients and/or other providers.
- Manage the referrals process, which includes completing incoming & outgoing referrals, getting authorizations or records as needed, and communicating updates to patients.
- Assist the doctor with minor in-office procedures, administering injections, dispensing medications, managing supply inventories, and sending/filling electronic prescriptions.
- Assist with the check-in/check-out process, which includes multitasking between multiple systems and communicating information to patients.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, ensuring accuracy and proper coordination.
- Perform outbound calling, emailing, scanning, faxing, and/or chart prepping as needed to ensure efficient patient care.
- Perform superior data entry by maintaining/updating patient demographic and financial information.
- Protect patient rights by maintaining the confidentiality of protected health information.
- Contribute to the practice by completing light cleaning to both the patient waiting room as well as the nursing work area.
Additional Expectations:- Demonstrates excellent patient bedside manner and the ability to respectfully explain different levels of information to patients and families.
- Collaborate with team members and outside vendors to maintain a harmonious practice and deliver exemplary care.
- Show proficiency with Microsoft suite, practice systems such as Athena EHR, CoverMyMeds, and other various insurance portals.
- Adhere to practice policies including dress code, personal phone usage, work schedule, etc.
Qualifications:- High School diploma (or equivalent)
- Current Medical Assistant Certification or Nursing License
- Prior Healthcare Experience (minimum 2 years)
- Knowledgeable of medical terminology, HIPAA, and Adult Medicine (preferred)
Full-time: M-F 8:00am-4:30pm
Pay: $17-$22 per hour* (based on experience)
Physical Demands of the Position

- Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequent movement between patient rooms, clinical work areas, the front office, and other areas of the practice.

- Using hands and arms to operate medical equipment, computers, and other office and clinical equipment.
- Assisting with moving and positioning equipment and supplies.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds as required to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Performing clinical duties safely and effectively while maintaining appropriate patient-care standards.
