Job Description
Summary:
- Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
- Location: New York, NY
- Work Mode: Onsite
Responsibilities:
- Perform patient care responsibilities, including venipuncture, EKGs, assisting patients, collecting and processing specimens, and preparing for exams.
- Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions to patients and families, and answer calls with pertinent information.
- Fulfill clerical responsibilities, such as managing patient records, obtaining lab reports, and completing forms and requisitions.
- Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepare prescription refill requests for physician approval.
- Inventory, order, or restock medical supplies as needed.
- Prepare examination rooms and instruments according to sterilization techniques and infection control policies.
- Maintain logging systems for medication refrigeration, point of care testing, and sterilization processes.
- Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of them as per policy.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Comply with personal protective equipment requirements for protection against hazardous substances.
- Assist in maintaining medical charts and may schedule surgeries or procedures.
- Perform proficient phlebotomy duties when required.
- Schedule appointments, register patients, update demographic and insurance information, and verify insurance details.
- Perform pre-certification for procedures as necessary.
- Travel to a second location for coverage when needed.
Requirements:
- Pediatrics experience is a must.
- Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent telephone etiquette.
- Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
- Must be able to adapt to a growing and changing environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred, but not required.
- Basic computer skills, particularly in MS Office Suite.
