Job Overview – Medical Assistant
Compensation: $23/hour 
Location: Suffolk County, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Medical Assistant in Suffolk County, NY for our client, supporting patient care, clinical operations, and administrative coordination within a busy outpatient practice. In this role, you will prepare patients for visits, assist providers during examinations, and maintain accurate medical records while ensuring a smooth patient experience. You will utilize EMR systems such as NextGen and standard clinical tools to support efficient daily operations.

Responsibilities as the Medical Assistant:
  • Patient Intake: Greet patients, verify information, and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
  • Clinical Support: Assist healthcare providers during patient visits and prepare exam rooms and equipment.
  • Medical Documentation: Record patient histories, treatments, and test results accurately within the EMR system.
  • Lab & Specimen Handling: Collect and process laboratory specimens while following safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Patient Education: Provide instructions on medications, treatments, and follow-up care.

Qualifications for the Medical Assistant:
  • Education: Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required, or a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent clinical training is preferred.
  • Certification: CMA or RMA certification is preferred, or equivalent clinical certification or experience is accepted.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a clinical setting.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of clinical workflows, patient care procedures, and medical terminology is required.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with EMR systems such as NextGen and proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong communication, organization, multitasking ability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
