Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting patient care by ensuring efficient clinic flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience. This position supports both clinical and administrative functions, working closely with providers and care teams to deliver high-quality outpatient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, patient history, and relevant medical information.
  • Document patient information accurately and timely in EMR systems.
  • Prepare charts prior to appointments, including labs, imaging, and records.
  • Assist providers with procedures and patient care activities.
  • Collect and process specimens as needed.
  • Support pharmacy refills, referrals, lab orders, and result tracking.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient follow-up care.
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and care teams.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Travel to multiple clinic locations as needed.
  • Provide coverage for other team members as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems.
  • Ability to room patients, obtain vital signs (BP, weight, BMI), and collect patient history.
  • Experience documenting accurately in EMR systems.
  • Strong understanding of back-office workflows (referrals, labs, refills, documentation).
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills (EMR systems, scheduling tools).
  • Ability to accurately document and manage patient information.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • 1-2 years of hands-on healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience in a medical office or outpatient setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with referrals, lab coordination, and patient scheduling.

Work Environment

Candidates will float between the following clinic locations: 5285 S 400 E, Washington Terrace, Suite B; 2132 N 1700 W, Layton, Suite 110; 1735 W 2700 N, West. The schedule is Monday-Friday, during standard clinic hours.

This is a Contract position based out of Ogden, UT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
