Position Summary

Perform clinical support services, assist with secretarial/clerical duties and maintain patient care documentation in medical records.

Responsibilities

Maintains all patient care related documentation in patients' medical records in a timely manner. Verifies consistency and accuracy of clinical information entered into patient charts. Prepares charts, maintains and updates forms and prepares documentation paperwork. Maintains and monitors medical record documentation and filing. Correctly files all patient documentation verifying accuracy and completion of content. Responsible for various secretarial, clerical and receptionist activities. Answer phones, greet patients, and screen calls. Schedule patient appointments.

Assist with charge entry on a timely basis. Purchase and distribute office and medical supplies. Perform clinical support services within protocol and upon completion of proper training and competency evaluation. Assist medical providers with patient care services as requested. Perform health screenings (vision, blood pressure, weight and vitals), collect blood collection and/or phlebotomy blood collection for lab tests. Collect health risk appraisals and/or patient histories.

Minimum Requirements

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

HS graduate or equivalent required.

One to two years of formal medical assistant/nurse aide training or six months current full time experience in a clinical setting as a Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or CNA preferred.

Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider status is required upon hire

This is a PRN / As needed position with no benefits

Day shift: Monday-Friday, hours may vary

The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.
