    About The Role

As a Per Diem Medical Assistant, you will support a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment across multiple urgent care and outpatient clinics in the South Bay. In this hourly, per diem role, you will work closely with providers and fellow medical assistants to deliver efficient, compassionate patient care. You will perform both clinical and administrative tasks, with a strong emphasis on rooming patients, Work Place Health and Urgent Care Services, while helping to maintain a smooth patient flow. This position requires flexibility to float between four clinic locations and to work weekend shifts as needed. The ideal candidate is a team player who takes initiative, is highly accountable, and is comfortable working in an urgent care or similarly high-velocity setting.

    What You'll Do

    • Perform clinical duties such as vital signs, patient intake, history collection, and rooming patients in a high-volume setting
    • Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards
    • Support providers in urgent care and outpatient visits, including assisting with exams, procedures, and treatments as directed
    • Manage high patient volume while maintaining accurate documentation, attention to detail, and a calm, professional demeanor
    • Float between up to four South Bay clinic locations based on staffing needs and schedule assignments
    • Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and the care team
    • Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
    • Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely manner
    • Support front and back office workflows as needed, which may include scheduling, check-in/check-out, and insurance verification
    • Collaborate closely with coworkers, demonstrating strong teamwork, dependability, and willingness to help where needed
    • Take initiative to identify issues impacting patient flow or clinic efficiency and proactively contribute to solutions
    • Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies and procedures at all times
    • Work weekend shifts and variable per diem hours, including evenings or holidays as required by clinic operations

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient, urgent care, or similar clinical setting
    • Current Medical Assistant certification or diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program (as required by state or employer policy)
    • Demonstrated venipuncture experience and proficiency with blood draws and specimen handling
    • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment; urgent care experience strongly preferred
    • Ability and willingness to float between four clinics in the South Bay region based on operational needs
    • Availability to work weekends and variable per diem hours (including potential evenings or holidays)
    • Strong teamwork orientation with the ability to collaborate effectively with providers, nurses, and support staff
    • Proven ability to take initiative, follow through on responsibilities, and maintain a high level of accountability
    • Proficiency with basic computer skills and experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on patient-centered, culturally sensitive care
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accuracy under pressure in a high-velocity environment
    • Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to start date, as required by employer policy
    • Compliance with all occupational health requirements (e.g., immunizations, TB screening) as required for clinical staff
