Medical Assistant - Podiatry

The Podiatric Medical Assistant - supports Podiatric providers and the clinical team by assisting with patient care, casting, splinting, bracing, patient flow, documentation, and administrative functions. This role is responsible for applying and removing casts, splints, strapping, and orthopedic devices under the direction of a licensed provider and in accordance with organizational policy, training, and demonstrated competency.

The Medical Assistant does not independently assess, diagnose, determine treatment plans, determine the type of cast or splint required, perform reductions or manipulations, administer medications or injections, or perform venipuncture unless properly qualified and authorized under New Jersey law and organizational policy.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
• Prior experience in podiatry/orthopedics, casting, splinting, bracing, or a clinical/ambulatory setting preferred.
• Ability to complete and maintain department-required casting and splinting competency validation.
• Basic computer skills and ability to document in the electronic medical record.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and professional workplace standards.
• BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.

PMAC (ASPMA) Podiatric Medical Assistant certification required within one year of hire.
