Willis Knighton Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Cardiology Clinic on the WKMC campus.
The Medical Assistant will provide nursing care to patients in the physicians offices under the supervision of the clinic physician.
The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assess the health status of patients and collaborate with the nursing staff and physician to establish care procedures
- Contribute to the planning of appropriate nursing interventions
- Medication administration for oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Document patient assessment
- Communicate pertinent information regarding patient condition to other members of the health care team
- Provide information to patient/family regarding disease process or diagnostic procedures
The primary role will be phlebotomy. Specimen collections and clerical duties.
A Louisiana State license for Phlebotomy is a requirement for this position and previous cardiac experience is preferred.
The applicant selected for this position will be required to attend a hospital-wide orientation as well as a department orientation upon hire.
