In a caring and professional manner, the Medical Assistant (MA) performs a reasonable scope of clinical and administrative tasks delegated by and under the direct/onsite supervision of the Physician and/or their intermediary personnel responsible for patient care management. Intermediary personnel include physician assistants (PA), nurse practitioners (NP), and registered nurses (RN). He/she assists front office personnel as directed by the Practice/Office Manager.

Education:
High School graduate or equivalent required.
Graduate from a Medical Assistant program accredited by the ABHES (the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools) OR CAAHEP (the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) preferred.

Certified/recognized as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from one of the following institutions:

Certification must be a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from one of the following institutions:
Must maintain certification according to certifying organization’s standards.
Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year customer service experience performing registration, scheduling, and insurance verification required. A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Reports to:Service Line Operations Coordinator, as well as under the direction of the Physician responsible for patient care management as applicable.

Mental Demands:Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required. Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.Special Demands:Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word. Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
