    Summary:

    • Responsible for performing a variety of duties, depending on assignment, as well as assisting providers with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.

    Responsibilities:

      1. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned
    • a. Checking schedules and organizing patient flow
    • b. Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
    • c. Assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, preparing for exam, etc.
    • d. Performing EKGs, vital signs (manual), venipuncture, and injections
    • e. Collecting patient history
    • performing screenings per provider guidelines
    • assisting providers/nurses with various procedures
    • f. Charting
    • relaying instructions to patients/families
    • answering calls, and providing pertinent information
    • g. Understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families
      1. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned
    • a. Sending/receiving patient medical records
    • obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
    • b. Completing forms/requisitions and pre-certifications/prior authorizations as needed
    • managing and updating EMR to ensure that information is complete
      1. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned
    • a. Setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols
    • b. Cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
    • c. Ordering, sorting, storing supplies
    • restocking exam/procedure rooms
      1. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned
    • a. Respecting/promoting patient rights
    • b. Responding appropriately to emergencies
    • c. Sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor

    Credentials:

    • Medical Assistant - PSV Manual (Required)
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
    • Education Specialization: Equivalent Experience:
    • Other
    • Education Specialization: Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution Equivalent Experience: •And One year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.Experience in cardiology
