Job Description

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant Supervisor for our Westbrook MA Teams. The MA Supervisor works in collaboration with the Nurse Supervisors and Clinic Director in carrying out the day-to-day needs to ensure an efficient clinic. This position overseas Medical Assistants, including staffing, performance management, scheduling assignments, and helping to resolve issues that may affect clinic flow, quality care, and overall patient experience. The Supervisor will be proficient in all aspects of Medical Assisting and be able to step in to help cover when needed. The MA Supervisor will lead by example and uphold the mission of NECS.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure that resources, supplies, and materials are available for clinic. Will work with the Clinic leadership to resolve issues that arise.
  • Organize duties and oversee training for new hires, and ensure all necessary training and paperwork is completed.
  • Schedule Medical Assistants to meet clinic demand including reassigning staff as needed to cover gaps. The MA Supervisor will float to areas where there is a Medical Assistant gap, including to help cover during lunches as needed.
  • Manage the performance of Medical Assistants, including conducting performance evaluations and counsels' medical assistants on unsatisfactory performance.
  • Meet with Clinic leadership to discuss personnel and administrative issues and to address and solve problems among staff.
  • Performs administrative duties including creating schedules, approving/managing timecards and PTO schedules, maintaining adequate supplies, incident reports, and informing staff of changes to protocols, processes, etc.
  • Works with Clinic Director to coordinate ongoing education for Clinical staff.
  • Will room patients, perform and record patient vital signs, review patient medications and allergies, complete ROS form and pain/fatigue assessment, administering and charting injections, draw blood specimens, and performing EKG.

Travel: Travel rare.

Required Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program required, Associates Degree in a credentialed Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • You must have (1) of the following credentials or be eligible to obtain (1) of the following credentials, based upon the credentialing organization's eligibility requirements within 90 days of hire:
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)- from AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistants
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from AMT, American Medical Technologists
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from NHA, National Healthcareer Association
    • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from ARMA, American Registry of Medical Assistants
    • National Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from the NAHP, National Association for Health Professionals.
  • 3-5 years experience in an outpatient clinic required, oncology experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy and injection experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience required
