Position Overview

J. Morrissey is seeking an experienced Medical Biller to support the revenue cycle operations of a physician office. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of insurance claims follow-up, denials management, appeals, and patient collections.

Key Responsibilities

- Review automated work queues to manage previously submitted and denied insurance claims and secure payment.
- Follow up with insurance carriers regarding outstanding claims and balances.
- Follow up with patients regarding outstanding balances and collections.
- Research and correct claim denials for timely resubmission.
- Prioritize daily workload based on claim aging, dollar amounts, and payment urgency.
- Determine appropriate follow-up actions on outstanding and denied claims.
- Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Navigate insurance carrier portals to research claim status, eligibility, benefits, and payment information.
- Prepare and submit appeals when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation of claim follow-up and resolution activities.
- Work independently while meeting productivity and follow-up expectations.

Qualifications & Skills

- Previous medical billing experience, preferably in a physician office or healthcare setting.
- Required: Strong understanding of insurance claims follow-up and denial resolution.
- Required: Experience with EOBs, insurance carrier portals, and appeals.
- Ability to identify the appropriate action needed to resolve outstanding claims.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work based on aging and high-dollar claims.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with EPIC EMR.

Compensation & Schedule

- Pay Rate: $22.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
- Location: Hartford/Farmington, Connecticut.
