We’re growing and looking for a Medical Billing Clerk to join our team. This position reports to the Billing Supervisor.  The Medical Billing Clerk supports accurate and timely reimbursement by researching and verifying patient insurance coverage, documenting benefit information, and working denied insurance claims. The role works with insurance carriers, medical clinics, patients, and internal team members to resolve billing issues, process appeals, identify denial trends, and maintain accurate information within billing systems. This position requires strong attention to detail, follow-through, sound judgment, and consistent compliance with HIPAA and applicable payer requirements.



We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, organized, and a strong problem-solver. You should be comfortable researching information, communicating with insurance companies and medical offices, managing multiple priorities, and following through to make sure the details are handled accurately. 


What You'll Do
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits: Review patient insurance information to confirm eligibility, covered services, plan requirements, and applicable benefit details. Recognize differences among common insurance plan types and document findings accurately.
  • Research benefit information: Contact insurance companies, medical clinics, and/or patients as needed to obtain or clarify coverage and benefit information.
  • Submit and Track Claims:  Prepare, review, and transmit both electronic and paper claims using billing software 
  • Complete benefit verifications and system updates: Use insurance portals, payer systems, and other available resources to complete benefit verification and update the billing system with complete and accurate information.
  • Work rejected claims and charges: Research and process rejected charges efficiently, identify the reason for denial, and take appropriate follow-up action. 
  • Maintain compliance: Follow applicable government insurance regulations, managed-care contractual requirements, internal procedures, and payer-specific guidelines.
  • Protect confidential information: Maintain the privacy and security of individually identifiable health information and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Manage workload and priorities: Stay focused on assigned work, manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a detail-oriented billing environment.
  • Support team culture: Contribute to a professional, respectful, and productive work environment that reflects Insight Billing Corporation’s values and supports strong team performance.
  • Perform related duties: Complete other billing, research, or administrative responsibilities as assigned to support department and company needs.

What We're Looking For
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required or preferred:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in medical billing, insurance verification, claims research, rejection management,  or a related healthcare administrative role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of insurance eligibility, benefits, denials, rejections and medical billing processes.
  • Ability to navigate insurance portals, payer systems, and billing software accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong research, problem-solving, follow-up, and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills when interacting with insurance representatives, medical offices, patients, and internal team members.
  • Ability to identify patterns, discrepancies, and missing information and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information appropriately.Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals and meeting established deadlines.

  • Maintain organized documentation and clear notes that support follow-up and account resolution.
  • Escalate unresolved issues, payer concerns, or recurring denial trends in a timely manner.

Work Environment & Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site position working Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Because the role involves ongoing collaboration with team members and access to billing and patient information, employees are expected to work from the assigned Insight Billing Corporation office and maintain dependable and consistent attendance.
