Medical Billing Specialist

Our client, a healthcare company based in Philadelphia, is hiring a part-time Medical Billing Specialist to support its revenue cycle team. This role handles claims submission, payment posting, and insurance follow-up for a multi-provider outpatient practice.

The position works closely with front-office and clinical staff to ensure accurate coding and timely reimbursement. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, managing a claims queue, and communicating with insurance carriers to resolve denials and underpayments.

This is a steady, ongoing part-time position with a consistent weekly schedule. It suits someone with prior medical billing experience who wants reduced hours without sacrificing meaningful, skills-based work.

Responsibilities

• Submit and track insurance claims for accuracy and timeliness
• Post payments and reconcile patient accounts
• Follow up on denied or underpaid claims with insurance carriers
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
• Communicate with patients regarding billing questions and balances
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer billing guidelines
• Review claim rejections and resubmit corrected claims
• Generate monthly billing and aging reports

Requirements

• 2 or more years of medical billing or coding experience
• Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
• Experience with practice management or EHR billing software
• Understanding of insurance claim submission and appeals processes
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• High school diploma required, associate degree preferred
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards
