Medical Coder

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Coder. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing medical records and documentation to assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services provided to our pediatric patients. You will ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, while also collaborating with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review patient records and documentation to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on established guidelines.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of coding to facilitate proper billing and reimbursement.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing staff to resolve coding-related inquiries and discrepancies.
• Conduct regular audits of coding practices to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide training and support to staff on coding practices and documentation standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines.
• Previous experience in medical coding, preferably in a pediatric setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proficient in coding software and electronic health record systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with healthcare teams.
