Job Summary
The Assembler will support product engineering studies involving mechanical assembly, sample builds, and preparation and testing of medical device components, including catheters and guidewires. Responsibilities include mixing chemical formulations, operating specialized equipment and tooling, applying coatings and lubricants, documenting samples through photographs, and preparing samples for conditioning and testing. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to established procedures, and the ability to work independently after training.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly and sample builds for medical device components.
- Mix chemical formulations according to established procedures.
- Use specialized equipment and tooling to heat-form tips on catheter shafts.
- Apply coatings to catheters and lubricants to guidewires.
- Photograph, characterize, and document samples.
- Prepare samples for conditioning and testing.
- Operate equipment and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting as required.
- Conduct quality inspections in accordance with established specifications.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), scientific methods, and quality guidelines.
- Identify and report abnormalities, equipment issues, or deviations from expected results.
- Work with engineering personnel to understand build protocols and execute assigned tasks accurately.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, interpret, and understand specifications in English.
- Basic mathematical calculation skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to use basic measurement tools, including microscopes.
- Willingness to learn, rotate between tasks, and take on different responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Preferred Experience
- Two or more years of manufacturing or assembly experience preferred.
- Experience with mechanical builds and assembly.
- Familiarity with chemical mixing and formulation.
- Experience operating specialized manufacturing equipment or tooling.
- Exposure to quality inspections, sample preparation, or testing is beneficial.
