Medical Device Service Technician—Orlando

We are seeking a Medical Device Service Technician for an onsite opportunity in Orlando, Florida. This is a hands-on position combining electronic troubleshooting, testing and repair with direct technical support for customers.

The technician will diagnose electronic problems, perform bench repairs and testing and help customers and biomedical technicians resolve technical issues. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic skills and can logically work through electronic problems rather than simply replacing parts. Previous medical device experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment, isolating failures to specific boards, circuits or components
• Interpret electronic schematics, test results and signal flow to identify root causes
• Perform board, unit and system-level testing according to established procedures
• Troubleshoot electronic and electromechanical assemblies using DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies and other electronic test equipment
• Perform soldering and rework on electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards
• Replace and repair surface-mount and through-hole components as needed
• Follow appropriate ESD practices when handling electronic assemblies
• Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, upgrades and performance verification
• Accurately document repairs, testing and service activities
• Provide technical assistance to customers by phone and email, including biomedical technicians, clinical engineering teams and other equipment users
• Troubleshoot alarms, setup and configuration issues, accessory-related problems and hardware failures
• Determine when equipment requires repair, replacement parts or escalation to Engineering
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and other departments to resolve technical issues
• Maintain test equipment and an organized service/work area
• Travel to customer locations as needed for service, installation, training and technical support

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics Technology or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
• 2–3+ years of experience servicing, troubleshooting, testing or repairing electronic equipment
• Strong electronic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics
• Ability to identify electronic components and understand basic circuits and signal flow
• Hands-on experience using DMMs and other electronic test equipment; oscilloscope experience strongly preferred
• Hands-on soldering and electronic rework experience
• Understanding of ESD practices
• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort troubleshooting electromechanical equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable troubleshooting technical equipment with customers over the phone
• Strong attention to detail and documentation
• Ability to manage repairs independently while collaborating effectively with customers, Engineering and other internal teams
• Ability to travel as needed

Preferred

• Medical device or biomedical equipment service experience
• Component-level electronic troubleshooting and repair experience
• Experience replacing surface-mount and through-hole components
• J-STD-001 certification or related soldering standards knowledge
• CBET certification
• Familiarity with regulated medical device environments

Work Environment

This is an onsite position in Orlando, Florida working primarily in a controlled service/laboratory environment. The role combines bench troubleshooting and repair with customer technical support and requires someone who is comfortable moving between hands-on electronics work, documentation and direct customer interaction.
