Medical Director

BluePearl Pet Hospital, Southfield, Michigan is seeking a collaborative, engaged, and passionate veterinary leader with several years of clinical experience to join our team as Medical Director for the Detroit Market.

This is a multi-hospital leadership opportunity, with the Medical Director providing clinical leadership and support across BluePearl’s Detroit-area hospitals, while maintaining a primary connection to our Southfield hospital. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside hospital leadership and clinicians across the market, helping to strengthen collaboration, medical quality, clinician engagement, and the overall BluePearl experience.

The Medical Director will partner with hospital and market administration to create a strong sense of community across our Detroit hospitals and interact with clinicians, teams, and leadership throughout the market. Using excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the Medical Director will support veterinary partner relationships and enhance an engaging work environment by making a positive impact on culture while cultivating an environment where medical quality stands out.

The primary responsibilities of the Medical Director include:

• Providing medical leadership and support across BluePearl’s Detroit-area hospitals

• Upholding medical quality standards, including patient care, client and referral veterinarian satisfaction, and patient safety

• Supporting quality and operational initiatives across the market

• Fostering a clinician-driven culture and an environment that cultivates learning and professional development

• Supporting clinician recruiting, engagement, development, and retention

• Building strong relationships and collaboration between clinicians and hospital teams

• Partnering with hospital and market leadership to identify opportunities for continued growth and improvement

Dedicated paid administrative time is provided off the floor to allow the Medical Director to focus on market leadership, clinician engagement, recruiting, relationship development, and other responsibilities critical to the success of the role.

The ideal applicant is self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work harmoniously and effectively with clinicians, staff, hospital leadership, and referring veterinarians across multiple locations. We have an incredible collaborative relationship with our referring veterinary community, and the right candidate must be willing to engage with referring veterinarians in a variety of ways, including making personal visits to their practices, presenting CE programs, and discussing cases by phone.
