As Medical Director, you'll provide medical leadership, mentor and manage the associate veterinarians, and ensure the hospital delivers both quality medicine and exceptional client service. Responsibilities:

What You'll Own as Medical Director

Advancing Medical Care

• Oversee surgical and medical cases across all doctors — ensuring strong outcomes, accurate estimates, and clear client communication and education
• Serve as a resource for clients with questions or concerns about medical and surgical procedures
• Set the direction on medical standards, quality of care, and inventory
• Establish and maintain medical protocols
• Oversee the smooth transfer of cases from doctor to doctor
• Control costs and minimize waste across medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug inventories

Leading the Staff and Practice

• Help recruit and interview doctors — and general staff when appropriate
• Monitor doctor performance and production
• Develop and track hospital-specific client compliance protocols
• Participate in technician appraisals and medical counseling sessions
• Ensure all medical staff get the training they need, including mentoring new graduates
• Partner with the Hospital Manager on staff training and on tracking CE and DVM licensure

Financial Leadership

• Drive revenue and hospital contribution growth while managing hospital expenses
• Help build the annual strategy, operating budget, and capital budget
• Monitor key financial reports

Growing the Practice

• • Drive patient visits and champion community involvement

• The composure to make fast, sound decisions when an animal's wellbeing is on the line
• A real understanding of animals and their behavior
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills — with clients and team alike
• Fluency with the medical technologies used in diagnosis, surgery, and care
