Medical Director - AP/CP General Surgical Pathologist
Location: Bradenton, FL
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Anatomic & Clinical Pathology Medical Director to lead a well-established pathology practice serving a large regional medical center on Florida's Gulf Coast. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a board-certified pathologist with strong expertise in general surgical pathology and a passion for collaboration, clinical excellence, and quality patient care.
As Medical Director, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team in a modern hospital environment that offers a diverse case mix and advanced specialty services.
Qualifications
- Board Certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)
- Minimum of three years of hospital-based pathology experience preferred
- Strong proficiency in:
- General Surgical Pathology
- Clinical pathology interpretations
- Frozen section procedures
- Subspecialty training or expertise in Breast Pathology or Lung Pathology is a plus!
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, hospital staff, laboratory personnel, and referring providers
- Active Florida Medical License or eligibility to obtain one (FCVS participation is a plus)
Practice Highlights
- Approximately 3,100 surgical pathology cases annually
- Approximately 200 cytology cases annually
- 9 10 procedures per week
- 15 20 peripheral smears per week
- Diverse pathology case mix including:
- Breast
- Colorectal
- Thoracic
- Urologic
- Neurologic specimens
- Regular procedures include:
- Frozen sections (sentinel lymph nodes, lung, orthopedic, skin, brain)
- Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) for lung procedures
